Nemaha County Man Dies in Undetermined Trailer Fire in Wetmore

WETMORE, KS — A Nemaha County man is dead following a fatal trailer fire that occurred last Friday evening in the community of Wetmore.

Details of the Incident

The Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office (KSFMO) reported that the chief of the Wetmore Fire Department first spotted the structure fire around 7:30 p.m. Friday. Multiple agencies responded to the scene on the 300 block of First Street, where a trailer was found fully engulfed in flames.

Victim Identified

After the fire was extinguished, responders located the remains of the trailer’s occupant inside the residence. The victim was identified as Randall Nott, 65.

According to the KSFMO release, Nott was known to be homebound and used Home Oxygen Therapy, in addition to being a known smoker.

Investigation Underway

The cause of the fire has been classified as undetermined. The Kansas State Fire Marshal Investigation Unit has been called in and is currently assisting with the investigation to determine the origin and cause of the fatal blaze.
