Douglas County, KS – A Lawrence man who was critically injured in a bicycle accident Wednesday evening in Douglas County has died, according to authorities.
Clayton L. Place, 30, of Lawrence, was identified as the bicyclist involved in the collision. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reported via social media that the accident occurred just after 8:00 p.m. in the 2000 block of N 1400 Road.
Initial reports indicate that a 2003 Honda Element, driven by a 70-year-old Lawrence man, was also westbound when it struck Mr. Place.
Emergency medical services transported Place to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
No additional details regarding the accident have been released by the police at this time.
