A fatal car accident in Brown County, Hiawatha, involved 76-year-old Richard E. Childress, who was driving a 2013 Kia Sorento eastbound on U.S. 36. The vehicle veered off the road, struck a sign, and rolled over, leading to Childress's ejection and death, as he was not wearing a seatbelt.

Injuries Reported in US-36 Minivan Collision

A crash occurred Thursday on US-36 Highway, west of Hiawatha, involving a minivan and a semi-truck. The 30-year-old minivan driver from Missouri sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital, while the 40-year-old semi-truck driver was unharmed. The minivan driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
