New $2.5 million Medicaid grant will expand mental health services in Kansas schools

Kansas Board of Education to study limitations on cellphone use in classrooms

The Kansas State Board of Education is finalizing a 30-member task force to develop policy recommendations on non-academic use of cellular phones by K-12 students. The focus is to minimize distractions and reduce stress and anxiety. The task force will include students, teachers, administrators, and state board members, and aims to present recommendations by late 2024.

Northwest Kansas students win Hansen scholarships

The Dane G. Hansen Foundation has awarded scholarships to 219 high school seniors from 49 Northwest Kansas schools. The winners were chosen based on verbal and writing skills, academic records, test scores, and community service. The scholarships range from $4,000 to $10,000 and are renewable based on the students' GPA and progress toward educational goals.
