Join the Patriotic Mural Project in Marysville

By Wayne Kruse

Marysville residents are invited to help create a patriotic mural that will be unveiled during July 4th on Broadway.

The project starts with individual blank tiles. Each person paints one tile, and after the tiles are completed, they will be assembled into one large Patriots Flag Mural Mosaic recognizing America’s 250th anniversary.

The first public tile painting will take place Wednesday, May 13, during Wake Up Wednesday from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the Lee Dam Center for Fine Art. Coffee and breakfast treats will be available.

No experience is necessary. All ages are welcome.

“This project gives people a hands-on way to be a part of Marysville’s July 4 celebration,” said Mandy Cook, board president of OneMarysville. “Each tile will be different because each person brings something different to it. When the mural is assembled, it will reflect the community that helped create it.”

The completed mural will be unveiled during July 4th on Broadway in downtown Marysville.

The project is sponsored by OneMarysville and the City of Marysville. Additional tile painting opportunities will be offered before July 4.
