🚨 Suspect Arrested After Armed Threat, Grocery Store Standoff in Lawrence

DOUGLAS COUNTY— A man is in custody facing multiple allegations following an incident on Monday that began with an alleged armed threat and concluded with an arrest inside a Lawrence grocery store.

Just before noon on Monday, Lawrence police officers were dispatched to the area of 23rd and Louisiana after witnesses reported a man threatened a couple with a firearm before fleeing the scene, according to a social media report from the Lawrence Police Department. Officers were able to secure a description of the suspect and gather additional evidence at the initial location.

Arrest at Grocery Store
Approximately one hour after the initial call, the suspect was spotted again near 23rd and Naismith Drive. When officers attempted to approach him, the suspect ran into a nearby grocery store.

Police quickly established a perimeter around the business. Officers then entered the store and safely located and arrested the man.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital for a medical check-up after complaining of stomach issues before being transported to the Douglas County Correctional Facility.

Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported throughout the entire incident. Police have not yet released the name of the suspect or the specific charges he may be facing.
