Ulysses Woman’s Death Leads to Arrest in Finney County

GARDEN CITY, KS – A months-long investigation into the death of a Ulysses woman in February has resulted in the arrest of a Garden City man. Ricardo Galvez-Aguayo, 33, was taken into custody on charges related to the woman’s death, which has been determined to be a Fentanyl overdose.

According to a media release from the Garden City Police, Finney County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to a home in Finney County on February 28 for a report of a woman not breathing. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 29-year-old woman, identified as a resident of Ulysses, deceased inside the home, which belonged to her boyfriend, Galvez-Aguayo.

An investigation revealed the cause of death to be a Fentanyl overdose. A subsequent search of the residence led to the discovery of illegal drugs, including Fentanyl, hidden in Galvez-Aguayo’s room—the same room where the woman died.

Authorities also learned that Galvez-Aguayo was known in the community as a supplier of Fentanyl. He is also accused of misleading investigators from the Finney County Sheriff’s Office during the investigation.

Galvez-Aguayo was arrested and booked into the Finney County Jail on requested charges of Distribution of a Controlled Substance causing Death and Interference of a Law Enforcement Officer by Concealing, Altering, or Destroying Evidence. He was later released from custody on a $500,000 Own Recognizance bond.
