North Dakota Fugitive Arrested in Comanche County, Kansas

COMANCHE COUNTY, KS—A routine traffic stop for speeding in Comanche County has led to the arrest of a man wanted on serious charges out of North Dakota.

On Monday afternoon, a Comanche County Sheriff’s Deputy, Stetsen Underwood, initiated a traffic stop. During the stop, Deputy Underwood discovered that the driver, identified as Fredi Barrientos Garcia, 24, had an active warrant for his arrest from North Dakota. The charges listed on the warrant include rape, kidnapping, and aggravated assault.

Barrientos Garcia was taken into custody without incident. He is currently being held in Kansas without bond, pending extradition back to North Dakota.

The arrest was announced by the Comanche County Sheriff’s Office on social media. The process of extradition is now underway, where North Dakota authorities will formally request that Barrientos Garcia be transferred into their custody to face the charges.
