Rays Dominate Royals 5-1 Behind Jansen’s Bat and Bradley’s Brilliance

KANSAS CITY, MO – The Tampa Bay Rays continued their strong run on Tuesday night, defeating the Kansas City Royals 5-1 at Kauffman Stadium. Catcher Danny Jansen was the offensive catalyst, smashing a two-run home run and driving in three RBIs, while starting pitcher Taj Bradley delivered a masterful performance, holding the Royals to just two hits over 6 2/3 scoreless innings.

The Rays, now second in the AL East behind the New York Yankees, have won three consecutive games and eight of their last ten, showcasing their surging form.

Jansen wasted no time making an impact, following a José Caballero two-out single in the second inning with a powerful homer that gave Tampa Bay an early 2-0 lead. He extended the lead to 3-0 in the fourth with a sacrifice fly that scored Jonathan Aranda, who had led off with a single and advanced to third on a throwing error.

Yandy Díaz and Jonathan Aranda were also key contributors to the Rays’ offense, each collecting three hits on the night. Díaz scored in the fifth inning on a throwing error by Royals starter Kris Bubic (6-5) after back-to-back singles with Curtis Mead. Junior Caminero added another run in the seventh, doubling and later scoring on a ground ball by Jake Mangum.

On the mound, Taj Bradley (5-5) was in dominant form, stifling the Royals’ bats from the outset. He didn’t allow a base runner until John Rave drew a one-out walk in the sixth. While Jonathan India broke up the no-hit bid with a ground-rule double, Bradley quickly shut down the threat by getting Bobby Witt Jr. to line out, preserving his scoreless outing.

For the struggling Royals, the loss marks their eighth straight at home and 12th in their last 15 games at Kauffman Stadium, a stark contrast to their impressive 16-5 start at home this season. Kansas City’s lone run came in the ninth inning when Maikel Garcia’s two-out double was followed by a Vinnie Pasquantino single.

The series is set to continue on Wednesday. The Rays will send Drew Rasmussen (6-5, 2.61 ERA) to the mound, while the Royals will counter with Michael Wacha (4-6, 3.24). Pregame coverage on Superstar 102.5 FM & 1530 AM KQNK begins at 6:00 p.m. CDT, with first pitch scheduled for 6:40 p.m. CDT from Kauffman Stadium.
