WICHITA, Kan. – A Kansas teenager has been sentenced to prison for her involvement in a brutal acid attack that left another young woman with severe burns.
On Friday, Judge Tyler Rousch sentenced Ye’Kira Acoya Hollins, who was 18 at the time of the crime, to 34 months in prison followed by 24 months of post-release supervision. The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s office confirmed the sentencing.
Last month, a jury found Hollins guilty of aggravated battery in connection with the May 2024 incident.
According to Wichita Police Captain Aaron Moses, officers responded to a disturbance in the 400 block of N Dodge in Wichita. An 18-year-old female victim later arrived at a local hospital suffering from second-degree burns to her face and neck. The injuries were consistent with an acidic liquid being thrown on her during a physical altercation.
Following the attack, investigators from the Wichita Police Felony Assault unit and patrol officers immediately launched a search for the suspects. On June 5, officers with the Patrol North Community Response Team located and arrested Hollins and an accomplice, Tayronnia Jontashia West. In March 2025, a 17-year-old girl was also arrested in connection with the case.
