HAYS, KS – The Oakley Plainsmen emerged victorious at the Mid-Continent League boys golf tournament held Thursday at the Fort Hays Municipal Golf Course. Oakley carded a team score of 344, narrowly defeating Plainville by a mere three strokes. Hoxie finished close behind in third place with a score of 348.
TMP-Marian finished in sixth place with a team score of 376, while Trego and Ellis rounded out the local representation in ninth (394) and tenth (411) place, respectively.
Hill City’s AJ Deges captured the individual championship, firing a 6-over-par 77. The battle for second place saw Oakley’s Easton Fink and Norton’s Eli Jones tie, both carding rounds of 79. Plainville’s Noah Brewster finished in a tie for fifth with an 82, while his teammate Easton Ditter tied for seventh with an 84.
Heuer Brungardt led the way for TMP-Marian, shooting a 92 to tie for 20th place individually, a position he shared with Ellis’s Jaren Frickey.
