Lakeside Claims Team Title, Melby Earns Medalist Honors at 2026 Tipton Golf Meet

The Lakeside Knights captured the team championship Tuesday at the 2026 Tipton Golf Meet held at Tipton Oaks Golf Course in Tipton, finishing with a team score of 285.

Lakeside was led by a strong overall performance that included four golfers finishing inside the top 10 individually. The Knights finished 31 strokes ahead of runner-up Rock Hills, which posted a 316 team score. St. John’s placed third with 325, followed by Tipton at 333 and Lincoln with 336.

Individually, Bentley Melby of Pike Valley earned medalist honors with an impressive 4-under-par round of 64. Melby carded a 33 on the front nine before closing with a 31 on the back nine to finish two strokes ahead of Lakeside’s Eli Schmitt.

Schmitt finished runner-up with a 66, while teammate Coby Cline placed third at 70. Lakeside also received top-five finishes from Tatum Miller, who shot 73, and Ryker Remus with a 76.

Grant Goodaker of St. John’s and Colin Wirth of Rock Hills each finished with rounds of 78 to lead their respective schools. Carson Thomas of St. John’s and Luke Hollerich of Tipton each posted 79s.
