Kansas City Man Arrested in Motorcycle Theft Case

MANHATTAN, KS – A multi-jurisdictional investigation has led to the arrest of a Kansas City, Missouri man following a brazen motorcycle theft from a dealership near Manhattan. The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office reports that multiple motorcycles were stolen from a business located in the 8000 block of East Highway 24 on February 7th.

Deputies responded to a reported burglary in progress at approximately 5:30 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered that several individuals had entered the dealership using a U-Haul truck and removed multiple motorcycles before fleeing the scene.

The investigation quickly expanded into neighboring Wabaunsee County, where deputies located the suspect U-Haul truck a few days later. A pursuit ensued, culminating in the driver, a 23-year-old Kansas City man, abandoning the vehicle and fleeing on foot. He was subsequently apprehended at a residence in Shawnee County.

Law enforcement officials were able to recover a significant number of the stolen motorcycles, which are in the process of being returned to their rightful owners.

The arrested individual faces charges of burglary, theft, and criminal damage to property. The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office has indicated that further arrests are anticipated as the investigation continues.
