A fatal car accident occurred on Monday evening in Montgomery County, Kansas.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 30-year-old Altamont man, William B. Gregory, was driving a 2010 Nissan Altima southbound on U.S. 169 when he attempted to pass several vehicles. His car collided head-on with a northbound 2001 Chevy Silverado driven by 27-year-old Cody L. Taylor of Parsons.
The impact caused both vehicles to veer off the roadway. Gregory sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Taylor was transported to Mercy Hospital in Joplin for treatment.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that Gregory was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
