A former Kansas middle school teacher has been sentenced to prison for child sex crimes.
Keil Hileman, 55, was sentenced to 24 months in prison on November 8th by Judge Neil Foth. Additionally, Hileman must register as a sex offender for 25 years.
On August 14th, Hileman pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted unlawful sexual relations. As part of a plea deal, four additional sex crime charges were dismissed.
In October 2022, Hileman, who was then a teacher at Monticello Trails Middle School in the DeSoto school district, was charged with criminal conduct related to his role as an educator.
It’s important to note that Hileman had previously been recognized for his teaching excellence, having been named Kansas Teacher of the Year in 2004 and a finalist for the National Teacher of the Year.
