Lawrence Police Arrest Suspect in Violent Knife Attack

Lawrence, KS – A suspect has been arrested in connection with a violent knife attack that occurred on November 4th.

Police responded to a call at 3250 Michigan Street where a 56-year-old victim reported being slashed by a 46-year-old man. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

Subsequently, police issued a public appeal for help in locating 46-year-old Rashidi “Rocky” McClelland.

On Wednesday, November 13th, around 5:30 PM, law enforcement received a tip that McClelland was inside a residence on the 3700 block of Westland Place. Officers surrounded the house and used loudspeakers to call McClelland out.

After several attempts to escape, McClelland surrendered peacefully at approximately 8:03 PM. He was arrested and booked into the Douglas County Correctional Facility on charges related to the stabbing.

The victim is expected to make a full recovery.
