A fatal motorcycle accident occurred in Cherokee County on Wednesday evening.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that a 2000 Honda motorcycle driven by William J. J. Meiers-Vilmer, 36, of Pittsburg, was traveling northbound on SE 70th Street at SE Quakervale Road in Riverton. The motorcycle collided with the rear of a 2015 Dodge Ram driven by Zachary T. Truster, 35, of Baxter Springs, who was stopped in traffic waiting to turn left.
Meiers-Vilmer was transported to Freeman Medical Center but was pronounced deceased. Truster was not injured. The Kansas Highway Patrol noted that Meiers-Vilmer was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
