In Kiowa County, a tragic pedestrian accident occurred shortly after noon on Wednesday, resulting in the death of a northwest Kansas man. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2016 International semi-truck, operated by 67-year-old Charles D. Cunningham from Pleasant Hope, was traveling west on U.S. Highway 54 at the intersection with 10th Avenue in Mullinville.
During this incident, a pedestrian named Richard Hubbard, aged 50 from Phillipsburg, was crossing U.S. Highway 54 while walking north on 10th Avenue when he was struck by the semi. Hubbard was pronounced dead at the scene. Cunningham was uninjured in the accident.
