Royals Top Blue Jays 3-2 Wednesday; Marsh Injured For KC

Alec Marsh and a group of relievers collaborated to limit the Toronto Blue Jays to just six hits as the Kansas City Royals secured a 3-2 victory on Wednesday night. Maikel Garcia and Salvador Perez were instrumental in the win, each contributing two hits and an RBI. This triumph came after the Royals suffered a loss in the series opener on Monday, showcasing their ability to bounce back and win two consecutive games.

In terms of pitching, John Schreiber earned the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0, while James McArthur notched his sixth save of the season. On the opposing side, Yariel Rodríguez struggled, surrendering three runs on six hits in four innings. Despite striking out two and walking two, Rodríguez was unable to contain the Royals’ offense.

Unfortunately for Alec Marsh, his impressive performance was cut short when he was struck by a line drive on his right forearm in the fifth inning. Although he managed to field the ball and make an out, he was subsequently removed from the game. Prior to his departure, Marsh had not allowed any runs on two hits. The Royals capitalized on Rodriguez’s struggles, scoring in the first inning with the help of a couple of walks. They added another run in the second, taking advantage of a misplayed double by Addison Barger.

While the Blue Jays managed to score a run in the fifth inning with a home run from George Springer, their offensive struggles continued. They were only able to pull within one run in the sixth inning with an RBI groundout from Ernie Clement.

The Blue Jays and the Royals will be concluding their four-game series at Kauffman Stadium on Thursday. The game is set to start at 1:10 PM, with Cole Ragans (0-2, 4.32 ERA) pitching for the Royals and José Berríos (4-0, 0.85 ERA) taking the mound for the Blue Jays.

Our next broadcast on Classic Hits KQNK will be Saturday, April 27th at 5:10 PM as the Royals head to Detroit to take on the Tigers. Pregame coverage on KQNK will begin at 4:30 PM.
