Embark on an exciting journey through history at Marshall County Museum Day, a day-long celebration of culture, education and fun. On Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., seven local museums will open their doors to visitors, offering free admission.
With a diverse range of museums participating, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. From captivating exhibits showcasing local history to immersive displays highlighting cultural heritage, Museum Day promises an enriching experience for residents and visitors alike. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore each museum at their own pace, discovering the fascinating stories and artifacts that shape Marshall County’s unique identity.
Participating museums include:
- Blue Rapids Museum, 36 Public Square, Blue Rapids
- Hermansberg School Museum (directly north of Immanuel Lutheran Church), 570 3rd Road, Bremen
- Koester House Museum and Gardens, 919 Broadway, Marysville
- Marshall County Historic Courthouse, 1207 Broadway, Marysville
- Marysville Historic Union Pacific Depot, 400 Hedrix Avenue, Marysville
- Oketo Museum, 100 Center Street, Oketo
- Pony Express Barn and Museum, 106 South 8th Street, Marysville
Visitors are encouraged to embark on a quest to visit all seven participating museums. A passport will be handed out at a visitor’s first stop. Following, upon arrival at each location, attendees will be given a stamp from the museum. Those who successfully collect stamps from all seven museums will be rewarded with a special prize, adding an extra layer of excitement to the day’s festivities.
“Museum Day is a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate our rich history and heritage,” said Sharon Vogelsberg, one of the event organizers. “We’re thrilled to offer free admission and invite everyone to join us for a day of exploration, learning and fun.”
In addition to the chance to visit seven incredible museums, attendees can look forward to experiencing new exhibits debuting on Museum Day.
For example, the Marshall County Historic Courthouse is unveiling their new exhibition, “She Did What,” on April 6. The exhibit explores the adventures, activities and achievements of women throughout Marshall County’s history.
Other activities at the museums include a scavenger hunt, guided tours, guessing games and opportunities to learn more about each museum’s upcoming events.
