Drowning Reported At Milford State Park

A six-year-old girl drowned at Milford State Park's swim beach on Monday. Geary County Sheriff's deputies responded to the incident, and the child was pronounced dead at a local hospital. Authorities do not consider the drowning criminal and seek public assistance for information regarding the incident.

Kansas River To See Flow Reductions Due to Drought

Starting November 1st, the Kansas River will experience reduced water flow due to drought, as Tuttle Creek Reservoir's levels drop below a key mark. Although reservoir levels are higher than last year, they remain insufficient. Drought affects 86% of the basin, prompting $9 million in relief for struggling farmers.

Milford State Park Closing Facilities For Winter

Milford State Park is winterizing facilities due to freezing temperatures starting October 15th, closing bathroom buildings, fish cleaning stations, laundry facilities, a dump station, and three cabins. Above-ground water lines must be insulated by October 16th. Vault toilets and some facilities will remain open year-round. Contact the park office for inquiries.
