MILFORD LAKE – A tragic incident occurred on Monday at Milford State Park when a six-year-old girl drowned at the park’s swim beach.
Geary County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a possible drowning just before 5 p.m. The location was identified as the swim beach near the Splashpad and South Boat Ramp, according to a media release.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported the young girl to the Stormont Vail Flint Hills campus in Junction City, where she was pronounced deceased.
Authorities currently do not believe the incident to be criminal in nature.
The Geary County Sheriff’s Office is appealing to the public for assistance. Anyone who was present at the swim beach, may have witnessed the incident, or has any information regarding the drowning is urged to contact Lt. Zachary at (785) 238-2261.
