Kansas Women’s Basketball to Play in 2026 Cancun Challenge

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Kansas women’s basketball will participate in the 2026 Cancun Challenge, Triple Crown Sports announced on Wednesday, taking place at the Hard Rock Hotel Rivera Maya on Nov. 26-28.

Kansas will be one of six programs to play in the Riveria Tournament and will be joined by Miami (OH), Minnesota and Washington State. Two additional programs to be announced at a later date. Colorado, Georgia and Oregon headline a full tournament field, which operates as a four-team, three-game round robin, with one program still to be confirmed.

Powered by Triple Crown Sports, the 2026 Cancun Challenge marks the 21st edition of the women’s tournament and the 19th for the men. Kansas will be participating in the Cancun Challenge for the first time.

The Jayhawks are led by head coach Brandon Schneider, now in his 12th season at Kansas. He has guided the program to four 20-win campaigns in the past five seasons, including going 22-14 and advancing to the WBIT semifinals last season. KU returns All-Big 12 First Team selections S’Mya Nichols and Jaliya Davis, while welcoming another top 20 recruiting class highlighted by McDonald’s All-American Cydnee Bryant, a five-star center from Riverside, California.
