St. Johns Boys and Osborne Girls Claim Victory at 2026 Kaser Relays

OSBORNE, KS – At the Osborne Track & Field complex, the St. Johns boys and Osborne girls rose to the top of the leaderboards, securing team titles at the 2026 Kaser Relays on Friday, April 24.

Boys’ Division: St. Johns Edges Out Thunder Ridge

The St. Johns men’s team captured the overall title with 134 points, fending off a strong challenge from Thunder Ridge, which finished second with 114 points.

The St. Johns victory was anchored by dominant performances in the distance events. Jeremiah Roderick was a standout, sweeping the 1600-meter (5:06.77) and 3200-meter (10:56.78) runs. He also contributed to a runner-up finish in the 800-meter run. The team’s depth was on full display in the field as well, where Edward Horinek won the triple jump with a leap of 44′ 3.5″ and took second in the 100-meter dash.

Other notable boys’ performances included:

  • Tristan Taylor (Thunder Ridge): Won both the 100-meter dash (11.05s) and the 400-meter dash (53.52s).
  • Tate Tiernan (Osborne): Secured a win in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.91s.
  • Owen Hammond (Northern Valley): Swept the hurdles, taking first in the 110m hurdles (14.84s) and the 300m hurdles (40.08s).
  • Gavin Thalheim (Northern Valley): Won the javelin with a throw of 161′ 1″.

Girls’ Division: Osborne Dominates on Home Turf

In the women’s division, the host Osborne team put on a clinic, scoring 154 points to beat second-place Ellis (134 points).

Osborne’s Gentrie Riner was the star of the night, winning the 300-meter hurdles (47.21s) and participating in three winning relay teams: the 4×100, 4×400, and 4×800. Her teammate, Ashlyn Schultz, cleared 5′ 2″ to win the high jump and added a third-place finish in the 800-meter run.

The Ellis girls remained competitive throughout the evening, led by Evelyn Merriman, who took gold in the 200-meter dash (26.35s) and silver in the 100-meter dash. Avery Boydston also delivered for Ellis, winning both the 800-meter (2:28.30) and 3200-meter (11:26.81) races.

Additional girls’ highlights:

  • Klaire Eilert (Osborne): Won the 100m hurdles in 16.58s.
  • Leavie Riner (Osborne): Dominated the discus with a throw of 113′ 6″.
  • Brecken Shellito (Logan): Won the pole vault by clearing 7′ 0″.
