Royals Halt Red Sox Winning Streak with 7-3 Victory

BOSTON – The Kansas City Royals snapped the Boston Red Sox’s seven-game winning streak on Wednesday night, securing a 7-3 victory behind a three-run homer from Jonathan India and a strong pitching performance from Michael Wacha. The win prevented a three-game sweep for the Royals.

Wacha (6-9) earned his second straight win, allowing two runs on five hits over six innings, with three strikeouts and no walks. Despite falling behind 2-0 in the first inning, the Royals offense rallied. Kyle Isbel gave Kansas City the lead with a two-run single in the fourth, and India’s seventh-inning blast extended the lead to 6-2.

The Red Sox’s Roman Anthony, fresh off signing a lucrative contract extension, went hitless in four at-bats. He came close to a hit in the fifth inning, hitting a long fly ball that was caught at the wall by Royals right fielder Randal Grichuk.

On the mound for Boston, Dustin May (6-8) made his Red Sox debut after a recent trade. He struggled, lasting just 3 2/3 innings and giving up three runs on six hits and two walks.

The Royals will have a day off on Thursday before heading to Minnesota for a three-game series. Seth Lugo (8-5) is scheduled to start the opener against the Twins’ Joe Ryan (10-5) on Friday. Pregame coverage Friday will begin at 6:30 PM on Superstar Country 102.5 FM & 1530 AM KQNK before a 7:10 PM first pitch from Target Field in Minneapolis.
