CLOUD COUNTY, KS – A head-on collision in Cloud County on Wednesday evening resulted in the death of one person. The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) is investigating the fatal crash, which occurred just after 5:00 p.m. on U.S. 24.
According to the KHP, a 2013 GMC Acadia, driven by 72-year-old Kathy A. Hansen of Smith Center, was traveling eastbound on U.S. 24, just north of 130th Road. For reasons yet to be determined, Hansen’s SUV crossed the center line and collided with a westbound 2012 Ford Taurus, driven by 18-year-old Harry L. Hodge of Canandaigua, New York.
Following the impact, the Ford Taurus rolled and struck the guard rail before coming to rest in the north ditch. Harry L. Hodge was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia. Kathy A. Hansen was transported by EMS to Wesley Medical Center. The KHP reported that both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the accident.
No additional details have been released by the Patrol as the investigation is ongoing. Further information will be provided as it becomes available.
