Wyandotte County, KS – A single-vehicle accident occurring amidst heavy rainfall just before noon on Sunday in Wyandotte County resulted in minor injuries to one occupant.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), a 2012 Nissan Quest, driven by 36-year-old Lorena Rodriguez-Guarini of Kansas City, Kansas, was traveling southbound on Interstate 635 at State Avenue. The KHP reported that Rodriguez-Guarini lost control of the vehicle on the wet roadway, causing the van to leave the road and overturn.
Emergency Medical Services transported a 16-year-old female passenger to Children’s Mercy Hospital for treatment of a minor injury. Rodriguez-Guarini and three other passengers – a 5-year-old girl, a 7-year-old boy, and a 40-year-old man – were not injured in the incident. All occupants were properly restrained, as stated by the KHP.
