Kansas City Royals’ Dominant Offense Reignites vs. San Francisco

San Francisco, CA – The Kansas City Royals broke out of their offensive slump in a big way on Wednesday, securing an 8-4 victory over the San Francisco Giants. The win was fueled by a three-hit performance from Salvador Perez, including a two-run homer, and strong contributions from Bobby Witt Jr. and Maikel Garcia, who each tallied two hits and two RBIs.

The Royals, who had been struggling to generate offense, scoring three runs or fewer in their previous seven games and four runs or fewer in 42 of their first 50, ignited their bats early. Kansas City held a 3-1 lead in the top of the fourth when Perez launched an opposite-field two-run shot off Giants starter Logan Webb (5-4) with Witt on base, extending their lead. The offensive surge continued into the fifth inning, with Drew Waters leading off with a double in a two-run frame that pushed the Royals’ advantage to 8-2.

San Francisco attempted to mount a comeback with home runs from Matt Chapman, Patrick Bailey, and Heliot Ramos, including a two-run shot by Ramos in the ninth off Lucas Erceg that cut the deficit to 8-4.

On the mound for Kansas City, Jonathan Bowlan (1-0) earned the win in relief, giving up one run on two hits in 1 1/3 innings after opener Daniel Lynch IV struggled with control, walking three and allowing a hit in 1 2/3 innings. Giants ace Logan Webb (5-4) took the loss, surrendering six runs (three earned) on 10 hits in four innings, despite striking out five and walking none.

A crucial defensive play came in the fourth inning with the score at 6-2, when Royals center fielder Kyle Isbel made a spectacular sliding catch on a low line drive off Wilmer Flores’ bat with the bases loaded and two outs, preventing further damage.

With this victory, the Royals improved their impressive record to a major league-best 17-1 when scoring four runs or more.

Looking ahead, the Royals will travel to Minnesota to face the Twins in a series opener on Friday. Left-hander Noah Cameron (1-1, 0.71 ERA) is slated to start for Kansas City, while the Twins will counter with right-hander Pablo Lopez (4-2, 2.40 ERA). First pitch from Target Field is scheduled for 7:10 PM, with pregame coverage on Superstar Country 102.5 FM & 1530 AM KQNK beginning at 6:30 PM.
