KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Nick Loftin and John Rave both homered while Kyle Isbel drove in three runs as the Kansas City Royals outslugged the Detroit Tigers 11-7 on Sunday, extending their winning streak to eight games and completing a three-game series sweep.
The eight-game surge marks Kansas City’s longest winning streak since May 2024. The victory also capped a flawless 7-0 home stand—marking just the fourth time in franchise history the Royals have completed an undefeated home stretch of seven or more games.
Kansas City struck early after right fielder Jac Caglianone was a late scratch due to ankle soreness. Isbel put the Royals on the board first with a two-run single, followed quickly by Loftin’s three-run blast over the left-center field wall to stake Kansas City to a 5-1 lead.
Detroit fought back behind Kevin McGonigle, who delivered an RBI double and later launched a game-tying home run. The Tigers also picked up offense from Gleyber Torres and Max Clark via run-scoring groundouts, an RBI single from Hao-Yu Lee, and a bases-loaded walk by Ben Malgeri in the seventh.
However, Kansas City’s offense proved relentless. In the fifth inning, Vinnie Pasquantino and Salvador Perez cracked back-to-back RBI doubles before Rave cushioned the lead to 9-5 with a two-run shot to right field. Isbel and Loftin added insurance RBI singles in the eighth to seal the victory.
John Schreiber (1-3) picked up his first win of the season after recording two outs in the fifth. Starter Daniel Lynch IV allowed two runs on four hits while striking out two over 4 1/3 innings, while Steven Cruz finished off the Tigers with a hitless ninth.
Tigers starter Andrew Sears (0-1) took the loss in his MLB debut, allowing five runs on six hits across four innings.
