Butler County, KS – Three people were injured and a teenage driver arrested following a single-vehicle rollover crash Tuesday night in rural Butler County.
The accident occurred just before 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of SW 20th Street and SW Hopkins Switch Road, according to Butler County Undersheriff Daimon Cundif. A 2004 Chevy Silverado, driven by a 19-year-old male from Towanda, was traveling westbound when it veered off the road to the north. The truck rolled down an embankment, coming to rest near the Kansas Turnpike Authority (KTA) bridge.
Several passengers were ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported three individuals to a Wichita-area hospital: a 28-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, both from Towanda, and a 38-year-old man. Authorities said two of the victims sustained serious injuries.
Deputies arrested the teenage driver at the scene. He faces multiple charges, including Driving Under the Influence, Aggravated Battery, Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor, Transporting an Open Container, and Felony Interference. He was booked into the Butler County Jail.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
