Kansas Erupts for 96-64 Victory Over Oklahoma State, Snapping Losing Streak

LAWRENCE, Kan. – The No. 23 Kansas Jayhawks roared back into form Saturday, dismantling the Oklahoma State Cowboys 96-64 in a dominant display at Allen Fieldhouse. A balanced offensive attack, coupled with suffocating defense, propelled the Jayhawks to a crucial victory, ending a string of recent setbacks.

Hunter Dickinson led the charge for Kansas (18-9, 9-7 Big 12) with a double-double, scoring 16 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Four other Jayhawks reached double figures, highlighting the team’s offensive depth. David Coit and Zeke Mayo each contributed 15 points, while Dajuan Harris Jr. delivered a standout performance with 14 points, five assists, and a career-tying six steals.

After a sluggish start, Kansas ignited a late first-half surge, turning a narrow lead into a commanding advantage. A pivotal 19-2 run, sparked by a Dajuan Harris Jr. three-pointer and punctuated by two electrifying alley-oop dunks from KJ Adams, sent the Allen Fieldhouse crowd into a frenzy. The Jayhawks entered halftime with a 29-point lead and extended it to a maximum of 39 in the second half.

Oklahoma State (13-14, 5-11) struggled to find its rhythm, managing just 64 points, nearly 30 below their season average. Bryce Thompson led the Cowboys with 21 points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Kansas’s relentless performance.

The Cowboys’ road woes continued as they fell to 0-8 in Big 12 away games and haven’t secured a win in Lawrence since 2018. For Kansas, the victory was a much-needed confidence boost, snapping a streak of four consecutive Saturday losses and back-to-back defeats to Utah and BYU.

Game Stats:

  • Kansas shot a blistering 57.1% from the field, while holding Oklahoma State to a mere 36.7%.
  • The Jayhawks set a season-high with 14 three-pointers, surpassing their previous best of 11.

Looking Ahead:

The Jayhawks will now travel to Boulder to face Colorado on ESPN Big Monday at 10 p.m. CT. Fans can tune in for pregame coverage on 95.5 KNDY, Z-96.3 The Lake, and SuperStar Country 102.5 beginning at 9:30 p.m..
