Christmas Morning House Fire Reported In Manhattan

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of a house fire that occurred on Christmas morning in Manhattan, Kansas.

At approximately 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the Manhattan Fire Department responded to a residential fire at 1217 Wyndham Heights Drive.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a single-family home with heavy fire and smoke emanating from the rear of the structure. Fire crews immediately initiated firefighting operations and conducted a thorough search of the premises, but no occupants were found.

The fire escalated to a second alarm before being brought under control within 30 minutes. A total of 17 firefighters responded to the scene utilizing six fire apparatus. All units were cleared from the scene by 10:30 a.m.

The one-story residence, which features a walk-out basement, sustained significant damage and is currently uninhabitable. The estimated losses include $250,000 for contents and $450,000 for the structure. The property is owned by Kenny Fischer.
