Vinnie Pasquantino’s Two Home Runs Power Kansas City Royals to 7-1 Victory Over Detroit Tigers

Vinnie Pasquantino hit two home runs, while Seth Lugo only allowed four hits over eight innings, leading the Kansas City Royals to a 7-1 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Thursday night. Bobby Witt Jr. also homered for the Royals, who have a perfect 4-0 record on their current road trip. Meanwhile, the Tigers have suffered four consecutive losses and have been outscored 25-5 in those games.

Lugo, who now holds a 13-5 record, gave up just one run, struck out three, and walked one after a 1-3 record in July. Notably, he has an impressive 7-0 record with a 1.31 ERA in nine starts against the AL Central this season. On the other hand, Keider Montero (1-5) allowed four runs on six hits in a career-high seven innings. Despite allowing three runs early in the game, Montero managed to settle down.

The game started with Maikel Garcia hitting a single and stealing second and third base without any throws. Witt walked, and Pasquantino hit his 13th homer into the right-field stands, giving the Royals a 3-0 lead. The Tigers managed to get on the board with a fourth-inning sacrifice fly, but Kansas City extended their lead to 4-1 in the seventh inning with Freddy Fermin’s RBI single. Witt and Pasquantino then hit back-to-back homers in the eighth inning, and Witt added an RBI double in the ninth.

Kansas City will be continuing their series in Detroit tonight at 5:40 p.m., with Royals pitcher Cole Ragans (7-7, 3.37 ERA) going up against the Tigers’ Tarik Skubal at Comerica Park. Pre-game coverage on SuperStar Country 102.5 & 1530 AM will start at 5:00 p.m.
