Important Changes In-Progress for KanCare Eligibility

Beloit, KS, March 27, 2023 — Are you or any of your household a KanCare or CHIP enrollee? If so, you may be receiving mail from the KanCare Clearinghouse. Kansas has resumed KanCare and CHIP eligibility reviews. This means that the KanCare Clearinghouse will be reaching out to people with KanCare or CHIP coverage through the mail to see if their eligibility has changed. Some people with KanCare or CHIP may be disenrolled from those programs. However, those individuals may be eligible to buy a health plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace and get help paying for it.

In Mitchell County and the greater North Central Kansas counties we have a local support team to help you through this process. Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems and the Connected Care Team provided by the Mitchell County Regional Medical Foundation are here to help you with these changes and provide local customer service and support. Our goal is to make this process and any transitions easy to understand and to reconnect community members with options to decide from.

Here’s what you can do:

  1. Make sure your address is up to date.
Visit kancare.ks.gov or call 1-800-792-4884 to make sure your address is up to date with the KanCare Clearinghouse. Also, remember to update any contact information that may have changed so they can reach you about your KanCare or CHIP coverage.
  2. Check your mail.
The KanCare Clearinghouse will mail you a letter about your KanCare or CHIP coverage. Make sure to check all envelopes in your mail that may seem like junk mail to look for a KanCare Clearinghouse return address. This letter will inform you if you need to complete a renewal form to see if you still qualify for KanCare or CHIP. If you receive a renewal form, fill it out and call our local team for any assistance needed. Return the renewal form right away. This will help you avoid a gap in coverage.
  3. Return mail from the KanCare Clearinghouse quickly.
It is important to return any mail from the KanCare Clearinghouse quickly and include any information requested. The KanCare Clearinghouse may need additional information to review your eligibility. Watch your mail daily and carefully read any mail that comes from the KanCare Clearinghouse, provide any information requested and send it to the Clearinghouse as quickly as you can. This will help you avoid a gap in your coverage and will allow the Clearinghouse to review your eligibility quickly.
