Kansas teams earn awards at World KidWind Competition

Thirteen Kansas teams competed at the World KidWind Challenge in Phoenix, achieving notable success by winning five awards. Events tested student-designed wind turbines in various conditions alongside knowledge quizzes and presentations. The Kansas KidWind program, which emphasizes STEM education, included participation from 80 teams across 41 schools statewide.

Kansas Kidwind teams advance to national competition

The Kansas KidWind State Finals winners are preparing for the World KidWind Challenge in 2024. Teams must qualify through regional and state competitions. They design, build, and test wind turbines, which are then evaluated based on performance, efficiency, knowledge, challenges, and presentation. The program aims to educate students in STEM concepts while fostering teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Kansas KidWind State Finals will be held in Salina on Saturday

22 teams from 15 Kansas schools will compete in the Kansas KidWind Challenge state finals. Winners will advance to the World KidWind Challenge in Minneapolis.
