GRAHAM COUNTY, Kan. — Two Hill City residents were injured Friday night after their vehicle struck a deer on US Highway 283 in Graham County, according to crash logs from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred just after 9:30 p.m. on Friday, July 24, near milepost 159.
Authorities report that 45-year-old Jeremy Hoard was driving northbound in a 2016 Ford Explorer with 48-year-old passenger Crystal Hoard when a deer suddenly entered the roadway from the east. The vehicle was unable to avoid the animal and collided with it.
Jeremy Hoard reported experiencing pain following the impact, while Crystal Hoard sustained suspected minor injuries. She was transported to Graham County Hospital for evaluation and treatment.
According to state troopers, both occupants were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.
