Lincoln Schools Announce New Head Basketball and Baseball Coach

LINCOLN, Kan. – Lincoln Schools (USD 298) has announced the hiring of veteran coach Rick Kissack to lead both the high school boys’ basketball and baseball programs. Kissack comes to Lincoln with an impressive coaching resume from his more than two-decade tenure at Grand Island High School in Nebraska.

Kissack was the inaugural head coach of the Grand Island baseball program, which started in 2003. Over 13 seasons, he led the team to numerous state tournament appearances in Nebraska’s largest classification, Class A, including a state championship in 2008 and a third-place finish in 2015.

His experience extends to the basketball court as well. Kissack served as an assistant coach for the Grand Island boys’ basketball team, contributing to their Class A state championship victories in both 1999 and 2002.

Kissack inherits a promising basketball team. The Lincoln boys’ basketball squad is coming off a strong 2024-25 season and is set to return one of the most experienced rosters in the Northern Plains League. In addition to his role as head basketball coach, Kissack will also take the reins of the Sylvan-Lucas Unified Schools/Lincoln cooperative baseball team.
