Local Pioneer Sales Rep Celebrates 50 Years with Field Tour and Celebration

A local fixture in the agricultural community is marking a major milestone. Bohnert Welding, which has served the area as a Pioneer sales representative for 50 years, is hosting a Pioneer Plot Tour on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, to celebrate.

The event, which is open to the public, kicks off at 4:00 p.m. and will feature a series of field tours highlighting the latest seed technology. The tour will start at a milo plot located two miles south of Ionia on the west side of Highway 128. From there, attendees will move to a soybean plot across from Bohnert Welding on Highway 14 in Jewell at Wilson Farms at 5:00 p.m. The final field tour is a corn plot at Greene Farms, one mile east of Jewell on Highway 28, starting at 5:45 p.m.

Throughout the tours, guests will learn about new products and advancements in seed technology. Experts will specifically showcase Enlist E3 soybeans, which provide effective weed control, especially with current Dicamba restrictions. Attendees can also hear from Pioneer Territory Manager Gabe Hardman and Pioneer Agronomist Garrett Kennedy, who will offer insights into the newest hybrids and varieties for the 2026 planting season.

The celebration will conclude at the Jewell Community Center at 6:30 p.m. with a celebratory supper prepared by Debra. The menu includes a variety of meats and side dishes, such as brisket, pork, chicken, cheesy potatoes, baked beans, and salads, followed by dessert.

In honor of the anniversary, a special 50-year giveaway gift will be distributed to attendees. The event celebrates Bohnert Welding’s five-decade-long journey as a local business and their commitment to the community.
