Atchison Man Arrested in Connection with Progress Rail Burglary

ATCHISON, KS – July 16, 2025 – Law enforcement in Atchison County are investigating a suspect following a burglary at Progress Rail, an industrial plant located at 2604 Industrial Road in Atchison.

According to Police Chief Mike Wilson, authorities were notified of the break-in on Monday. The burglary is believed to have occurred shortly after 3:00 a.m. on Sunday. Miscellaneous items, including headphones, food, a flashlight, and other various goods, were reported stolen from the premises.

An investigation quickly led to the arrest of 36-year-old Keith D. Williams of Atchison. Williams was booked by officers on Tuesday afternoon on requested charges of burglary and theft. He was already in custody at the county jail, having been arrested by police on Monday on an outstanding De Soto, Kansas Municipal Court warrant.

On Tuesday, officers executed a search warrant at a residence, successfully recovering most of the items reported missing from Progress Rail. The investigation is ongoing.
