Overnight Power Outage to Affect Parts of Marshall and Washington Counties

Marysville, KS – Residents in portions of Marshall and Washington Counties served by Nemaha-Marshall Electric Cooperative Association, Inc. are advised to prepare for a significant overnight power outage scheduled for this Wednesday, June 4th. The interruption, lasting from 11:00 PM on Wednesday to 5:00 AM on Thursday, June 5th, is necessary for essential maintenance on supply lines by Evergy, the cooperative’s energy provider.

The outage will primarily impact Nemaha-Marshall Electric Cooperative members situated north of Marysville and Hanover, and west of U.S. Highway 77. This widespread disruption is expected to affect a substantial portion of the cooperative’s service territory within these counties.

“Please take the necessary steps to prepare for this outage,” urged Nemaha-Marshall Electric Cooperative in a statement to its members, emphasizing the importance of making arrangements for the temporary loss of electricity.

Adding to the inconvenience, local radio station 95.5 KNDY-FM will be off-the-air during the power disruption, as its transmitter site is located within the affected area. However, listeners can still tune into Classic Country 1570 AM and 94.1 FM KNDY, which will remain on the air. The stations’ internet stream and mobile apps will also continue to be accessible.

Nemaha-Marshall Electric Cooperative members in the designated areas are strongly encouraged to plan for the six-hour power loss, which will extend into the early morning hours of Thursday.
