TOPEKA – The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) is announcing a delay in the start of the 2025 Kansas Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (KSFMNP). The program, originally scheduled to begin on June 1, will be delayed due to unforeseen technology delays.
No start date for the 2025 KSFMNP has been confirmed at this time. There are currently no plans to cancel the program for 2025. The program is positioned to act quickly once the contract is in place to ensure that seniors receive their benefits.
Seniors are eligible if they are 60 years or older, or if they are at least 55 years old and a member of an Indian Tribal Organization. Eligible seniors must also have an annual gross household income (before taxes are withheld) at or below 185 percent of the federal poverty level.
Seniors who are eligible will receive $50 in coupons. These coupons can be used to purchase local produce and local honey at participating farmers markets from authorized vendors, which will be identified with signage showing they are authorized to accept the coupons.
KDHE encourages seniors and local farmers to check for updates by visiting the KSFMNP website.
