Brown County, KS – A tragic two-vehicle collision on U.S. 36 Highway in Brown County claimed the lives of a Sabetha couple Friday evening. The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) reported that the crash occurred just after 5:00 p.m., approximately half a mile east of Goldfinch Road.
According to the KHP accident report, 63-year-old David Koch was operating a motorcycle that crossed the center line of the highway. The motorcycle then collided with a pickup truck driven by 61-year-old Timothy Rottinghaus, of Baileyville.
David Koch and his passenger, 62-year-old Odetta Koch, were both pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the pickup truck, Timothy Rottinghaus, and a passenger in his vehicle reportedly sustained no injuries in the crash.
The Kansas Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
