Two-Vehicle Crash in Mitchell County Leaves One Dead, One Injured

Beloit, KS – A fatal two-vehicle accident occurred on Monday morning on K-14 highway, approximately five miles north of Beloit in Mitchell County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that the collision involved a 2010 Toyota Tundra traveling northbound on K-14. The Tundra crossed the centerline and collided with a southbound 2008 Ford Escape.

The driver of the Ford Escape, identified as Cady G. Travis, 44, of Jewell, succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The patrol confirmed that Travis was wearing his seatbelt.

The driver of the Toyota Tundra, Christopher J. Herz, 39, of Burr Oak, was transported to Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit to receive treatment for serious injuries. The patrol noted that Herz was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Both vehicles were occupied solely by their respective drivers.
