The Kansas City Chiefs have made a significant move for the upcoming 2024 season by signing veteran quarterback Carson Wentz as a backup to Patrick Mahomes. This one-year deal, confirmed by the NFL on Monday, brings Wentz into his eighth season in the league. Last season, he played for the Los Angeles Rams.
Wentz’s career has been marked by notable achievements, including leading the Philadelphia Eagles to the first seed in 2017 before suffering an injury just before the playoffs. Despite his absence, the Eagles went on to win the Super Bowl with Nick Foles as their quarterback. Wentz’s performance that season earned him Second-team All-Pro honors and a Pro Bowl selection.
Throughout his career, Wentz has also had stints with the Indianapolis Colts and the Washington Commanders, both as a backup and a starter. With his experience and skill set, Wentz is expected to fill the void left by former Chiefs backup QB Blaine Gabbert and bring a veteran presence to the team’s locker room.
