Washington County Commission Meeting Minutes – 6/25/18

The Board of Washington County Commission met in regular session on Monday June 25, 2018 in the commission room at the Washington County Courthouse. Members present were Tim Mueller, 1st District Commissioner, David Willbrant, 2nd District Commissioner, Gary Ouellette, 3rd District Commissioner, Elizabeth Hiltgen, County Attorney and Diana Svanda, County Clerk to record minutes, Cynthia Scheer, Washington County News was also present.

The board began the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Consent Agenda:
Approval of June 11 minutes
Resolution 5-18 State of Disaster Proclamation
Tim Mueller made the motion to approve the consent agenda, David Willbrant seconded the motion, all in favor, motion carried.

Diana Svanda presented value comparison for the commissioners to look at before doing budgets. Also talked to commissioners about the Veteran’s scroll at the airport, and whether a door could be put in place of what was out there. Later found out that it was not possible for a door do to moister reasons.

Tim Mueller went to NCK Juvenile Detention meeting and toured the facility, it is possible they may be taking secure Care juveniles by next year.

David reported he went to a Heartland Works meeting and was re-elected as vice-chairman.

Randy Hubbard, Emergency Management Director – Reported the state is still assessing damage’s and signing the Resolution 5-18 State of Disaster Proclamation will allow the county to receive money later. Randy has received the EMPG grant money, and the message board was put to use this weekend by the Days of 49 parade and carnival.

Goria Moore, Tourism Director – Reported on her office and Tour’s around the county.

Justin Novak, Road & Bridge Supervisor – Reported on flood damage around Haddam, there needs to be more than $5,000.00 in damage before it can be reported to the state. Also reported that there has been a promotion within the department. Justin presented a supplemental agreement for Hollenberg by and between the Secretary of Transportation, KDOT, and Washington County, David Willbrant made the motion to sign the agreement, Tim Mueller seconded the motion, all in favor, motion carried.
