WASHINGTON, Kan. — Saturday, October 10, 2026, brought intense league action to Washington County High School as volleyball programs from across the region gathered for the annual Twin Valley League (TVL) Volleyball Tournament. When the final spike hit the floor, top-seeded Centralia stood tall, capping off an extraordinary day by capturing the tournament championship.
Dominant Seeding and Opening Rounds
Entering the tournament, Centralia and Linn set the benchmark for the league, both boasting flawless 9-0 conference records during the regular season. Centralia held the number one overall seed with an unblemished 32-0 overall record, while Linn secured the number two seed at 28-0. Hanover rounded out the top three seeds with an 8-2 league mark (24-5 overall).
The morning session opened with fast-paced play across the high school and elementary gym courts:
- Play-In Action: #8 Clifton Clyde edged out #9 Washington County in a thrilling three-set battle (26-28, 25-20, 26-24). #7 Valley Heights swept #10 Onaga (25-15, 25-9), and #6 Axtell topped #11 Frankfort (25-14, 25-12).
Championship Bracket Battles
As the tournament progressed into the championship rounds, the league’s top contenders separated themselves with high-level execution:
- Quarterfinals & Semifinals: Centralia cruised past Clifton Clyde (25-20, 25-16) before outlasting a tough challenge from #5 Blue Valley in a three-set semifinal thriller (25-21, 22-25, 25-17). On the other side of the bracket, #2 Linn defeated Valley Heights (25-19, 26-24) and edged #3 Hanover (25-23, 25-23) to punch their ticket to the title match.
Final Standings & Tournament Placings
In the tournament’s final matches, teams fought for crucial positioning heading into the postseason stretch:
- 1st Place / Champion: Centralia
- 2nd Place / Runner-Up: Linn
- 3rd Place: Hanover (defeating Axtell in the third-place match)
- 5th Place: Valley Heights (securing a consolation bracket victory over Doniphan West)

Meanwhile, Washington County, Onaga, and Frankfort competed in a fiercely contested consolation round-robin to round out a full day of competitive TVL volleyball.
