BEATRICE, NE – The Gage County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a recent theft and act of vandalism targeting agricultural equipment in rural Wymore.
A local farmer reported that copper wire had been stripped from an irrigation pivot located near the intersection of South 108th and East Spruce Road. The victim discovered the theft, along with significant damage to the pivot system, while performing routine maintenance between January 6 and January 8.
Authorities Issue Warning to Rural Residents
In light of this incident, Gage County law enforcement is urging farmers and rural property owners to remain vigilant. Officials recommend that residents:
- Conduct regular inspections of fields, outbuildings, and machinery.
- Monitor irrigation systems specifically, as they are frequent targets for metal theft.
