GREAT BEND, KANSAS—Law enforcement spent several hours Wednesday evening searching for the driver of a vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident on the east side of Great Bend.
The incident occurred near 2nd Street and Chisholm Trail, just outside the city limits. Deputies from the Barton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 6:40 p.m., where they found one person deceased. The driver of the striking vehicle had already fled.
In their search for the suspect, authorities reviewed surveillance footage from local businesses and issued an alert for a dark pickup truck with significant front-end damage.
The Great Bend Police Department and the Barton County Sheriff’s Office were both involved in the search. No additional details about the incident have been released by police at this time.
