Roadwork underway on U.S. 283 in Norton County

A project to resurface a portion of U.S. 283 is underway in Norton County.

The Kansas Department of Transportation project involves a mill and overlay on 14 miles of the highway starting at the east K-9 junction and ending near Washington Street in Norton. During construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane through the areas where crews are actively working and directed by flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists should plan for delays of 15 minutes or less during daylight hours.

Project work is expected to be completed by the end of September, conditions permitting.

Venture Corporation, of Great Bend, is the primary contractor for the $2.8 million project. For more information, please contact KDOT Area Construction Manager Dan Moore at 785-302-6205 or daniel.moore@ks.gov.
