Colby Man Dies in Thomas County Motorcycle Accident

THOMAS COUNTY – A Colby man, 62-year-old Duane D. Kriegshauser, died following a motorcycle accident just after noon on Sunday in Thomas County.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), Kriegshauser was traveling northbound on Kansas 25, approximately one mile north of Interstate 70, on a 1991 Kawasaki motorcycle. The accident occurred when his motorcycle struck the right side of a 2006 Toyota Prius, driven by 32-year-old Laura D. Kern, also of Colby. Kern had reportedly slowed and was attempting to turn into a private drive at the time of the collision.

Kriegshauser was transported to Citizens Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased just before 1:00 p.m. The KHP report indicated that Kriegshauser was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Laura D. Kern, who was properly restrained, was not injured in the incident.
